Gold Coast vets: the short answer
If your dog needs a vet right now and your usual clinic is closed, the Gold Coast has two hospitals open 24 hours a day, every day of the year: SASH Gold Coast at Robina and the Animal Emergency Centre (AEC) Gold Coast at Varsity Lakes. Animal Emergency Service at Carrara covers weekday nights and runs around the clock on weekends and public holidays. For everything else, from puppy vaccinations to dental work, there's an established local clinic in most corners of the city, and we've listed a checked shortlist from Paradise Point down to Varsity Lakes below.
We're groomers, not vets. But a lot of dogs pass across our table in Miami, and "who's a good vet around here?" comes up in nearly every new-puppy chat. Every clinic in this guide was checked in October 2026 against its own website and its live Google Business Profile. Hours and services change, so always confirm with the clinic before you go.
24-hour and emergency vets on the Gold Coast
Save at least one of these in your phone today. Nine o'clock on a Sunday night, with a dog who has just eaten something he shouldn't have, is not the moment to start searching.
SASH Gold Coast, Robina
The Small Animal Specialist Hospital's Gold Coast hospital is open 24 hours, 365 days a year. Alongside the emergency department it runs an intensive care unit, a blood bank and specialist teams in internal medicine, surgery, neurology, surgical oncology, anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging, so it's also where complex cases often end up on referral. Animal Emergency Centre (AEC) Gold Coast, Varsity Lakes
Open 24 hours, seven days a week, public holidays included. AEC is a dedicated emergency and critical care hospital with an intensive care unit, X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and an in-house lab, and it treats snake bites and tick paralysis, two of the big local ones. When it's an emergency
The Gold Coast has a few local hazards that need a vet straight away rather than a wait-and-see. Snake bites, paralysis ticks, heat stroke in the summer humidity, poisoning and dog fights all sit high on the emergency hospitals' own lists. Head in and call on the way so the team knows you're coming. Emergency hospitals triage on arrival, so the most urgent patients are seen first and a wait isn't a sign you've been forgotten.
Paralysis ticks are a real risk here, particularly in the warmer months. After a walk through long grass or bush, run your hands slowly over your dog, especially around the head, neck, ears and between the toes. Any wobbliness, a change in bark or trouble breathing is a straight-to-the-vet sign.

Northern Gold Coast

How to choose a vet for your dog
Close beats fancy. A clinic within a short drive makes the small visits easy, and the small visits are what keep the big ones away. When you ring around, ask where they send patients after hours, so you already know which emergency hospital you'd be heading to.

Where grooming fits in
For some dogs, a full groom is the only time anyone checks them over from nose to tail. Groomers often notice things first: red or smelly ears, hot spots, irritated skin, a new lump, a grass seed working its way between the toes, or a split nail. We don't diagnose. If something looks like it needs a vet, we'll let you know at pickup.

Yes, two. SASH Gold Coast at Robina and AEC Gold Coast at Varsity Lakes are both open 24 hours, every day of the year. Animal Emergency Service at Carrara is open overnight on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends and public holidays.
Where should I take my dog after hours on the southern Gold Coast?
SASH Gold Coast at Robina and AEC Gold Coast at Varsity Lakes are the closest 24-hour hospitals to southern suburbs like Miami, Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach and Mermaid Waters.
Should my puppy be vaccinated before its first groom?
Yes. We groom puppies from around 12 weeks, once their second core vaccination is done. Your vet sets the exact vaccination program, so check with them if you're unsure where your puppy is up to.
Can a groomer treat ear infections or skin problems?
No. A good groom keeps ears clean and coats healthy, but infections, hot spots and constant itching need a vet. If we spot something on the table, we'll point you in the right direction.

Got my senior queen Lady (husky x GSD) groomed here when her regular groomers couldn’t fit her in (they would often cancel as well due to her size and hair type). Pets Juicy did an incredible job - Lady came back happy, smelling fresh and well de-shedded. Had such a good experience at Pets Juicy. My dog Monty had the worst mats in his ears and I was honestly so stressed about it. The team were so patient and gentle with him, especially because he’s a bit silly and crazy They really took their time and made sure he was comfortable, and did an amazing job. I honestly wish I took before photos of how matted his ears were because the difference is crazy. So grateful for how kind they were with him. Definitely recommend!

Best haircut in 16 years for my spoodle
I’ve brought my two pups to Pet’s Juicy a few times now, and every visit has been such a positive experience. The team is incredibly gentle, caring, and clearly loves what they do! My dogs are always excited when we arrive! Their grooms are beautifully done, and they come home smelling amazing and happy every time. Always amazing & professional a great team
Sami looked and felt absolutely fabulous after her long haired deshedding service. The team did an awesome job with my golden girl who hates her nails being trimmed. Our vet couldn’t manage trimming Sami’s nails without sedation but the team ensured she had a proper and perfect dogicure. Being a water lover, Sami had some matting which the team were able to also tidy. 10/10
Awesome open space, needed for our local area
This was our first time at Pets Juicy and we were very impressed with our visit. It’s a very friendly space and I liked how my pup was able to hang out with the day care dogs while he waited for his cut. Also the staff was very accommodating, booking was easy and prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back!

Our big beautiful GSD loves this place. Hes very anxious at groomers but the whole vibe is just chill, welcoming and loving. He immediately relaxed and blended in well.
I struggle to take him in public to dog parks as he gets very unhappy, but id happily leave him here as long as needed. Well managed and run.

Our 15yold Moodle has lots of bumps and lumps. Had been avoiding groomers due to fear of distress. Had been recommended Pets Juicy and couldn’t be happier. Easy to book, lovely reception on arrival and felt very comfortable. And in picking up our dog, he was happy calm and looked wonderful.

Highly recommend the Pets juicy team to look after your furry babies. I was so hesitant and nervous as I’d never had my dogs previously looked after but moving interstate and trying to take our family to theme parks left me no choice but to bite the bullet and try. I would highly recommend Pets Juicy . I popped in this morning to see if they could possibly trim my 14 year old Boxers nail's.
I was in Awe... usually Ruby is a shaking mess and stressed in new situations.
Shane took Ruby through to the grooming room and tender to those nails while I waited.
What I witnessed was a serene/happy atmosphere in the doggy daycare area and Ruby was relaxed on the grooming table while her nails were attended to.

Amazing service! After being told by multiple groomers across the GC they weren’t taking on anymore large breed clients, I came across Pets Juicy who were more than happy to help. Both dogs groomed the next day and was better priced than I expected! Will definitely be using them from now on.
