Dog Friendly Picnic and BBQ Spots on the Gold Coast (2026 Guide)

Every spot here has been checked for two things: public BBQ or picnic facilities, and dogs allowed. National parks are out (dogs are banned in all of them), and so are the playgrounds and swim enclosures within these parks, which are no-dog zones. Checked July 2026.
A sausage sizzle by the water with the dog stretched out in the shade is peak Gold Coast. These are the parks where you can actually do it, sorted north to south, most with free electric BBQs and sheltered tables.
Northern Gold Coast
Broadwater Parklands, Southport
The big one. Free electric BBQs, picnic tables, toilets and Broadwater views, all flat and pram-friendly. Dogs on-leash throughout. Easy to make a morning of it with a walk along the foreshore first.
Paradise Point Parklands, Paradise Point
Sheltered picnic areas with BBQs, a swim enclosure for the kids and Broadwater views. Dogs on-leash through the parklands, with an off-leash foreshore section at the northern end for a run before lunch.
Harley Park, Labrador
A quieter pick on the Ian Dipple Lagoon foreshore, with picnic facilities, toilets and parking. Dogs on-leash. Bring your own setup, as we couldn't confirm public BBQs here, so treat it as a picnic spot rather than a barbecue one.
Central Gold Coast
Pizzey Park, Miami
Our local, and a genuine all-rounder: public BBQ and picnic tables plus a fenced off-leash agility area, so the dog gets a run and you get lunch. A few minutes from the studio.
Evandale Park, Bundall
Shaded BBQ seating, toilets and showers, with lake and Nerang River views and HOTA right next door. Dogs on-leash. A tidy central option that pairs with a browse around the arts precinct.
Southern Gold Coast
Schuster Park, Tallebudgera
BBQs, a rotunda shelter, toilets and a calm creek beach. A large off-leash expanse plus on-leash zones, so check the signs, but there's room to spread out and swim. One of the best all-in-one spots in the south.
Palm Beach Parklands, Palm Beach
Free BBQs and picnic shelters right over the water, toilets, and the Currumbin Creek lagoon on your doorstep. Dogs on-leash in the parklands, with the Rockview off-leash beach adjoining for the run-around.
Where not to set up
Firth Park at Currumbin is dog-prohibited, so cross it off. The national parks, Burleigh Head, Springbrook and Tamborine, ban dogs full stop, picnic areas included. And within any of the parks above, keep the dog out of the playgrounds and swim enclosures, which are no-dog micro-zones even where the rest of the park is fine.
Big feed, bigger nap.
