Dog-Friendly Gaven and Pacific Pines: Galapagos Park and More
The Gaven and Pacific Pines basics
Pacific Pines is a leafy, family suburb in the hills behind Helensvale, and it has one of the best dog parks in the region. Galapagos Park is a whole designated off-leash park with a fenced agility area in the middle and bushland paths to explore. Aquifer Reserve adds a second off-leash area with toilets. Gaven, next door, is quieter, with the nearest off-leash space a few minutes up the road.
Park rules are checked against City of Gold Coast park pages, and venues and stays were checked on 27/10/2026. If a sign on the day disagrees, the sign wins.
Galapagos Park, Pacific Pines
Council describes Galapagos Park as a large dog park. The whole park is a designated off-leash area, with a fenced dog agility area in the middle, open space to throw a ball or a frisbee, and a network of paths through the bushland. Dogs stay out of the playground. There are no public toilets, and parking is on the street. See council's Galapagos Park page.

- Off-leash: the whole park, plus a fenced agility area

Aquifer Reserve, Pacific Pines
A neighbourhood reserve with an off-leash dog area, plenty of space for kites, frisbees and games, and toilets, a picnic shelter and tables. Council doesn't describe the off-leash area as fenced. See council's Aquifer Reserve page.
- Where: Pitcairn Way, Pacific Pines
- Toilets: yes
On-lead parks
Salvado Reserve on Salvado Drive is an on-lead park, fine for a short stroll. Dogs are prohibited from all playgrounds.
Gaven
We couldn't confirm a council off-leash area inside Gaven itself. Galapagos Park and Aquifer Reserve in Pacific Pines are the closest, and Helensvale's six off-leash areas are a short drive north.
Coffee and a beer
We couldn't verify a Gaven or Pacific Pines cafe or pub that says in its own words that dogs are welcome, so we're not listing one. Cadence Cafe in Nerang welcomes dogs and is covered in our Nerang, Highland Park and Carrara guide.
Dog-friendly stays nearby
BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park, Helensvale. The park's own page says dogs are welcome on all caravan and camping sites, and selected cabins take up to two dogs at no extra charge. Send your dog's vaccination certificate before you arrive, keep them on a lead and never leave them alone. See BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park.
Address: 66-86 Siganto Drive, Helensvale QLD 4212
Worth knowing: Gold Coast Tourist Parks' own pet policy says only its Jacobs Well and Kirra Beach parks take dogs, so the Main Beach and Broadwater tourist parks are a no. For the city-wide list, see our pet friendly accommodation guide and dog-friendly caravan parks guide.
Vets nearby
We couldn't confirm the details of a clinic inside these two suburbs. The closest we've verified are Greencross Vets Helensvale Square on Sir John Overall Drive, Helensvale, open weekdays and Saturdays, and Greencross Vets Nerang on Price Street, Nerang. They're in our Helensvale guide and Nerang guide.
After hours. Animal Emergency Service at 104 Eastlake Street, Carrara, runs overnight on weekdays (6pm to 8am) and 24 hours on weekends and public holidays. SASH Gold Coast at Robina and AEC Gold Coast at Varsity Lakes are open 24/7. See our Gold Coast vets guide.

Ticks, grass seeds and heat
Bushy suburban parks are paralysis tick country. Check your dog's head, neck, ears, armpits and between the toes after every walk, and look for grass seeds in paws and ears in the warmer months. On hot days, walk early or late, as footpaths heat up fast. Our ticks and snakes guide covers what to look for.
