Dog Friendly Caravan Parks on the Gold Coast (2026 Guide)
Which Gold Coast caravan parks take dogs
Seven caravan parks on the Gold Coast, or a short drive from it, currently take dogs on van sites: Kirra Beach and Jacobs Well tourist parks, BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park at Helensvale, NRMA Treasure Island at Biggera Waters, Coomera Holiday Village, Tamborine Mountain Glades in the hinterland and Pyramid Holiday Park just over the border in Tweed Heads. Each one has different rules on how many dogs, which sites and when. We checked every park's own published pet policy in October 2026, and the detail is below.
One thing to know before you start searching: most of the council-run Gold Coast Tourist Parks don't take dogs at all. Of the network's ten parks, only Kirra Beach and Jacobs Well do. Main Beach, Broadwater, Burleigh Beach, Tallebudgera Creek, Ocean Beach and the South Stradbroke Island campgrounds are pet-free, so don't let a beachfront photo talk you into booking the wrong one.
Southern Gold Coast and over the border
Kirra Beach Tourist Park, Coolangatta
The best pet friendly caravan park on the Gold Coast if you want sand on the doorstep. Kirra Beach Tourist Park has more than 80 powered dog friendly sites, two-bedroom dog friendly cabins with gated, pet-proof mesh balconies, and a central grassy area for dogs. Grab a dog wash token from reception on arrival and you can rinse the salt off on site before it ends up in the van bedding.
The park allows a maximum of two dogs per booking. Proof of current vaccinations is needed before you arrive, dogs must be registered with your home council, and breeds on the Queensland Restricted Dog List can't stay. No tents with dogs. Keep them on a lead and out of the pool, playground, camp kitchen, BBQ areas and amenities. You sign the park's Pet Friendly Guidelines and Waiver before arrival. Pyramid Holiday Park, Tweed Heads West
Just over the border from Coolangatta, Pyramid Holiday Park on Kennedy Drive has a gated dog park inside the grounds, so the dog gets a proper run without leaving the park. It's a van-and-ensuite-site option only for dog owners, so bring your own rig.
Pets are allowed only on designated powered ensuite sites, and not in or near the cabins. It's one pet per site unless management approves more, and dog sites may not be available over shoulder and peak seasons. Dogs must be held or tied up on your site on a lead no longer than two metres, never left unattended, and kept out of reception, the kiosk, games room, amenities, laundries, camp kitchen, playground, pool and BBQ areas. Read the Pyramid Holiday Park pet policy before you book.
Northern Gold Coast
BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park, Helensvale
The most dog-geared park on the coast, and the one we'd point first-time van travellers to. Dogs are welcome on all of its caravan and camping sites, there are small and big dog parks for off-leash running, and a DIY dog wash for the end of the day. Selected cabins take up to two dogs too, though not every dog friendly cabin is bookable online, so phone the park if you're not bringing a van.
Bring current vaccination papers or a titre test certificate, because the park asks for them on arrival. Dogs stay on a lead everywhere except the off-leash enclosure, where you need to stay with them. They can't be left unattended on your site or in accommodation, and the pool area and water park are off limits. The BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park dog policy has the rest.
Jacobs Well Tourist Park, Jacobs Well
The quiet, waterfront council park at the top end of the coast. Dogs stay on powered sites in the park's dedicated dog friendly area, and there are two-bedroom dog friendly cabins too. There's a fenced off-leash area right beside the park, a dog friendly beach nearby and a dog friendly beer garden at the local tavern. Guest reviews through 2025 and 2026 keep describing it as a properly dog friendly park.
The limit is two dogs per site and one dog in the cabin. No tents with dogs. The same council rules as Kirra apply: vaccination proof before arrival, council registration, no restricted breeds, dogs on a lead and out of the amenities, camp kitchen and BBQ areas, and the signed guidelines and waiver. NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Resort, Biggera Waters
A big resort-style park on Brisbane Road, in the same suburb as the timed off-leash Broadwater foreshore at Biggera Waters. Dog friendly options sit on the creek side of the resort: powered tent and motorhome sites 421 to 436, powered caravan and tent sites 507 to 516, 529 and 400, and ensuite cabins 304 and 305.
This is the park with the tightest rules, so read them twice. The maximum is two small dogs per site, pets aren't permitted during peak and premium seasons, and every pet stay is at the park manager's discretion. Contact the park first, then sign and return the pet waiver they email you. The pet friendly cabins carry a per-pet, per-night fee payable on arrival. Details are on the Treasure Island pet terms.
Coomera Holiday Village, Upper Coomera
A caravan and camping park on Reserve Road, close to the northern theme parks and the Coomera River. The park lists its caravan sites and camping sites as pet friendly, and its own FAQ confirms that selected caravan and camping sites take pets. It's a sites-only option for dogs, so plan on the van or the tent.

Worth the drive: the hinterland
Tamborine Mountain Glades, Tamborine Mountain
The cooler option. Up on the mountain at Thunderbird Park, Tamborine Mountain Glades has powered sites for tents or vans and unpowered tent sites, and dogs are permitted throughout the caravan and camping sites. Mountain air tends to run a little cooler than the coast, which a thick-coated dog will thank you for in late spring.
Dogs must be on a lead at all times, never left unattended and can't join the on-site activities. Pit Bull Terriers aren't allowed on the property, cats aren't permitted, and there's a per-pet fee at booking. Before you hitch up: the practical bits
Book the dog site early
Outside BIG4 Helensvale and Tamborine Mountain Glades, where dogs can go on any van or camping site, dog sites are limited and some parks shut them off when it's busy. Treasure Island doesn't take pets in peak and premium seasons, and Pyramid says dog sites may not be available over shoulder and peak seasons. School holidays and long weekends go first. Declare the dog when you book, in writing, and confirm the site number is a dog site.
What to pack
- Vaccination certificate or titre test, plus council registration details, ready to email before you arrive
- A short lead and a tie-out that keeps the dog inside your site (Pyramid caps it at two metres)
- Their own bed, bowls and plenty of fresh water
- Poo bags, and more than you think
- Two old towels: one for wet dogs, one for sandy paws at the van door
- Shade for the site, because an awning on its own often isn't enough by mid-afternoon
Beach access
A dog friendly caravan park doesn't make the beach out the front dog friendly. Gold Coast beach rules are set by council, not the park, and most beaches are lead-on with only a few off-leash zones. Heat and summer
A van heats up fast in a Gold Coast summer, and several parks here don't allow dogs to be left unattended at all, so plan outings where the dog can come too. Walk early and late, test the bitumen with the back of your hand, and give them a cool, shaded spot on site. Bush and hinterland stays mean ticks, so run your hands over ears, neck, armpits and between the toes every evening.
Back home: the post-trip wash
We see the van-trip dog in the Miami studio after every long weekend: sand packed into the undercoat, salt drying the skin, campfire smoke in the ears and a damp-towel smell that a home hose-down doesn't touch. Double coats like a Labrador's hold the lot close to the skin, which is where the itch starts. Our warm bath and blow dry rinses it out properly, and a deshed treatment lifts the loose undercoat that traps sand. FAQs
Which Gold Coast Tourist Parks allow dogs?
Only Kirra Beach Tourist Park at Coolangatta and Jacobs Well Tourist Park. The other council tourist parks, including Main Beach, Broadwater, Burleigh Beach, Tallebudgera Creek and Ocean Beach, don't take pets.
Can I bring my dog if I'm camping in a tent?
Not at Kirra Beach or Jacobs Well, which don't accept tent bookings with a dog. BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park, Coomera Holiday Village and Tamborine Mountain Glades list their camping sites as dog friendly, and Treasure Island has specific powered tent sites. Confirm when you book.
How many dogs can I bring to a Gold Coast caravan park?
Usually two. Kirra Beach allows two per booking, Jacobs Well two per site, and Treasure Island two small dogs per site. Pyramid Holiday Park allows one unless management approves more.
Are dogs allowed in caravan parks during school holidays?
It depends on the park. Treasure Island doesn't allow pets in peak and premium seasons, and Pyramid may not have dog sites over shoulder and peak seasons. Kirra Beach and Jacobs Well don't publish blackout periods, but dog sites book out early, so lock them in well ahead.

Got my senior queen Lady (husky x GSD) groomed here when her regular groomers couldn’t fit her in (they would often cancel as well due to her size and hair type). Pets Juicy did an incredible job - Lady came back happy, smelling fresh and well de-shedded. Had such a good experience at Pets Juicy. My dog Monty had the worst mats in his ears and I was honestly so stressed about it. The team were so patient and gentle with him, especially because he’s a bit silly and crazy They really took their time and made sure he was comfortable, and did an amazing job. Best haircut in 16 years for my spoodle
I’ve brought my two pups to Pet’s Juicy a few times now, and every visit has been such a positive experience. The team is incredibly gentle, caring, and clearly loves what they do! Sami looked and felt absolutely fabulous after her long haired deshedding service. The team did an awesome job with my golden girl who hates her nails being trimmed. Our vet couldn’t manage trimming Sami’s nails without sedation but the team ensured she had a proper and perfect dogicure. Being a water lover, Sami had some matting which the team were able to also tidy. 10/10
Awesome open space, needed for our local area
This was our first time at Pets Juicy and we were very impressed with our visit. It’s a very friendly space and I liked how my pup was able to hang out with the day care dogs while he waited for his cut. Also the staff was very accommodating, booking was easy and prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back!

Our 15yold Moodle has lots of bumps and lumps. Had been avoiding groomers due to fear of distress. Had been recommended Pets Juicy and couldn’t be happier. Easy to book, lovely reception on arrival and felt very comfortable. And in picking up our dog, he was happy calm and looked wonderful.

Highly recommend the Pets juicy team to look after your furry babies. I was so hesitant and nervous as I’d never had my dogs previously looked after but moving interstate and trying to take our family to theme parks left me no choice but to bite the bullet and try. I would highly recommend Pets Juicy . I popped in this morning to see if they could possibly trim my 14 year old Boxers nail's.
I was in Awe... usually Ruby is a shaking mess and stressed in new situations.
Shane took Ruby through to the grooming room and tender to those nails while I waited.
What I witnessed was a serene/happy atmosphere in the doggy daycare area and Ruby was relaxed on the grooming table while her nails were attended to.

Amazing service! After being told by multiple groomers across the GC they weren’t taking on anymore large breed clients, I came across Pets Juicy who were more than happy to help. Both dogs groomed the next day and was better priced than I expected! Will definitely be using them from now on.
