Dog Friendly Markets on the Gold Coast (2026 Guide)

Here's the catch with markets: a lot of the big Gold Coast ones actually ban dogs under food-handling rules, even though blog lists keep saying otherwise. So we checked each market's own policy in July 2026. These are the ones that genuinely welcome a leashed dog, and at the end, the popular ones that don't.
A market morning is a great dog outing, sniffs, crowds, the odd dropped chip, provided you pick one that actually allows them. Here are the Gold Coast markets that say yes, on-leash.
Dogs on the Green, Southport
The obvious one: a market built for dogs, at Broadwater Parklands. Rescue stalls, water stations, waterfront paths and a whole crowd of sociable on-leash dogs. It runs select Saturdays through the year, so check the next date before you head down.
Racecourse Markets, Bundall
Every Sunday morning at the Gold Coast Turf Club, and pets are welcome on-leash. Produce, plants, pet supplies and free parking, a proper weekly staple rather than a monthly event.
Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets, Surfers Paradise
The iconic twilight artisan market strung along the foreshore, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 4 to 9pm. Their own site lists it as pet-friendly, on-leash. Beach on one side, stalls on the other, very easy with a dog in the cooler evening air.
Art and Craft on the Coast, three beachfront parks
A trio of on-leash beachfront park markets: Broadbeach at Kurrawa Park (first and third Sundays), Burleigh Heads at Justins Park (last Sunday) and Coolangatta at Queen Elizabeth Park (second Sunday), all 8am to 2pm. Council parkland by the sea, and the Burleigh one openly invites you to bring the dog for a walk.
Paws at the Park, Mudgeeraba
The big day out, billed as Australia's largest outdoor dog markets, at the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds. On-lead and off-lead grassy areas, stalls, the lot. It runs a couple of times a year, usually around August and November, so watch the organiser for dates.
Popular markets that ban dogs
Don't get caught out at the gate. Under Gold Coast food-handling rules, plenty of the big markets say no dogs, whatever the blogs claim. The Burleigh Market, Palm Beach Farmers' Market, Carrara Markets and Miami Marketta all ban dogs (assistance animals aside), so leave them off the dog itinerary. When in doubt, check the market's own page before you load the car.
Market day is a big day. Crowds and stalls are a lot of sniffing and socialising, and some dogs do better with a play day instead.
