Gold Coast's Best Dog Friendly Bars, Restaurants and Cafes (2026 Guide)

The Gold Coast cafe scene treats dogs like locals, which is exactly as it should be. These are the cafes and casual eateries where your dog gets a bowl, a shady spot and sometimes their own menu, listed from north to south with addresses, hours and the actual dog rules. Ripples Cafe & Bar, Runaway Bay

The northern end's waterfront local. Ripples sits right on Bayview Street with a deck over the water, a fully licensed menu that runs from breakfast through lunch, and a pet friendly listing that comes up on every dining guide that covers it. It closes at 2pm, so this one's a morning mission: walk the Broadwater, then eggs and a cold glass of something while the dog watches the boats.

Cafe Catalina, Southport

Right in the Broadwater Parklands with water views from the alfresco area, which is exactly where the dogs sit: undercover, outside, with dedicated water bowl stations. Inside dining room is people-only, and that's clearly signed. The menu runs breakfast to dinner, which makes it one of the few dog friendly spots where you can do a sunset dinner by the water.

BSKT Cafe, Mermaid Beach

A Gold Coast institution with a new postcode. In December 2025 BSKT moved 200 metres from its old beachside corner into The Oxley 1823 precinct on Lavarack Road, and the new digs came with a proper pups menu. Same health-focused kitchen, same smoothie bowls worth the queue, now with more room for the dog to stretch out. If your maps app sends you to the old spot, it's wrong.

Paddock Bakery, Burleigh Heads

The famous old Queenslander on Hibiscus Haven, wood-fired sourdough, dippy eggs, and a shady picket-fenced garden where dogs of every size are properly welcomed with puppuccinos. Weekends get busy early, so go at sparrow's if you want a garden table without the wait.

Custard Canteen, Palm Beach

Retro name, serious pastries. Custard Canteen opens at 5:30am, which makes it the official cafe of people whose dogs believe sunrise is a group activity. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables under the big umbrellas, and you're a short stroll from the Tallebudgera end of Palm Beach for the pre-coffee run.

Dune Cafe, Palm Beach Parklands

Overlooking the calm water of Currumbin Creek at Palm Beach Parklands, Dune keeps a limited number of dog friendly tables outside plus a tie-up area with water. The genius of this one is the geography: the off-leash beach zone at Rockview Park is accessed along the path directly behind the cafe, so it's swim, rinse, brunch, all within a hundred metres. Book ahead for a dog table on weekends.

Mudjira Village Eatery, Mudgeeraba

The hinterland wildcard. Tucked down Swan Lane in Mudgeeraba village, Mudjira has a leafy garden courtyard and the sort of staff who greet the dog before they greet you. It's the perfect refuel if you've been exploring the village's antique shops, and a much better dog plan than the national parks up the road, where dogs aren't allowed at all.

Tips for cafe days with your dog

Feed them before you go so the table begging stays theoretical. Bring your own water even if bowls are promised, park them in shade, and keep the lead short enough that the staff can carry plates past without a slalom course.
