There's a particular kind of happiness that only happens when you've got a cold drink in hand, salt still in your hair, and your dog flopped under the table like they own the place. The Gold Coast does this better than almost anywhere in Australia. Here are the pubs, bars and taprooms where dogs are properly welcome, not just tolerated, with the addresses, hours and dog rules so you can plan the whole session before you leave the house.
Quarterdeck Kitchen + Bar, Coomera
Sitting inside the Gold Coast City Marina, Quarterdeck gives you boats, water views and a big covered deck where your dog can sprawl while you work through the menu. It's listed as pet friendly on the official Queensland tourism register, and the staff are used to four-legged regulars. Mention the dog when you book so they seat you on the deck.

Banksy Bar & Kitchen, Broadbeach
Named after the owners' Vizsla, so you know where their loyalties lie. Banksy has a dog-friendly ordering window, shaded outdoor seating, treats behind the counter and puppuccinos on the actual menu. It's a brunch-into-afternoon venue rather than a late-night one, with drink specials kicking in from 2pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Perfect for a long lazy arvo.

Burleigh Brewing Taphouse, Burleigh Heads
The granddaddy of Gold Coast craft beer, and still one of the best afternoons you can have with a dog on a lead. The outdoor area is dog territory (leads on at all times, it's a working brewery inside so indoors is off limits), with food trucks and live music most weekends. One thing plenty of people get wrong: the Taphouse only opens Friday to Sunday, so don't roll up on a Wednesday expecting a Twisted Palm.

Black Hops HQ, Burleigh Heads
Back, and better for it. After a rocky 2024, Black Hops found new owners and the Burleigh HQ taproom is pouring seven days a week. Their own website calls the taprooms dog friendly, and the industrial-estate setting means plenty of room around the tables. There's a second taproom up at Biggera Waters if you're a northern-end local.

Fortitude Brewing Co, Tamborine Mountain
Worth the drive up the mountain. Fortitude pours its own beers plus the Noisy Minor range, and dogs are welcome in part of the outdoor seating area, where the view over the paddocks does half the entertaining for you. Their hours move around a bit, and the brewery says their Facebook page is the source of truth, so check it before you commit to the winding road.

These four are open, trading and well loved, but none of them publishes a written dog policy, and we only print what we can verify. If one of them is your local, ring ahead before you clip the lead on.

Pub etiquette for dogs (and their humans)
A short lead, a full water bowl and a dog that's already had a walk make you welcome anywhere. Keep them out of walkways, don't let them work the room for chips, and if your dog finds crowds stressful, an afternoon at the pub isn't a treat for them, it's a shift.
