Doggy daycare in Burleigh Heads
Burleigh dogs are the fittest dogs we see and often the least settled. Headland walks, the creek, the beach, the pub. Plenty of exercise, not much structure. Pets Juicy is five minutes north in Miami, and daycare supplies the part the beach does not.
How far from Burleigh Heads
About five to ten minutes north to our studio on Mountain View Avenue in Miami, north along the Gold Coast Highway, or via Christine Avenue and Bermuda Street. Allow a little longer in school-run traffic. There is a loading zone out the front and free street parking, so drop-off is not the hard part of your morning.

See groomingWhy Burleigh Heads dogs end up here
Burleigh is unapologetically dog-obsessed and the dogs know it. Morning laps up the hill, coffee on James Street with a water bowl already down, an afternoon at the creek. These dogs are not short of activity. What a lot of them are short of is a day with a shape to it.
A dog who is exercised hard and never taught to switch off gets fitter, not calmer. That is the Burleigh pattern almost exactly. The rest block is the bit that changes things here: matched play, then enrichment, then a genuine sleep in the middle of the day. Owners usually report the evenings improving before anything else.
What the day actually looks like
The thing that separates a good daycare from a paddock full of overstimulated dogs is structure. Play, then rest, then play, then wind down. Dogs that run flat out for eight hours do not come home happy, they come home wired and sore and unable to settle.
- Arrival and a quick once-over. We check your dog in, look them over, and note anything that has changed since last time. Sore paw, new lump, off their food, all worth knowing before they join a group.
- First play block, in a matched group. Grouped by size, age and play style, not just whoever turned up. A bouncy young Labrador and a twelve year old terrier do not belong in the same session and we do not put them there.
- Enrichment. Scent work, snuffle mats, puzzle feeders. Brain tiredness lasts longer than body tiredness and it is the part most daycares skip.
- Rest block. Not optional. Dogs go down on proper bedding in a calm space and the arousal level comes back to earth. This is the single biggest reason our dogs sleep through the evening instead of pacing it.
- Second play block, then wind down. Shorter than the first, then a deliberate cool-down so nobody goes home still buzzing.
- Wash or groom, if you booked it. Done before pick-up so you collect a clean, tired dog and skip a second trip.
How we keep it safe
Every dog does a trial day before they join a regular group. That is not a formality and it is not a sales step. It is how we work out who your dog actually gets on with, how they handle arrival, whether they take a rest block without protesting, and which group they belong in. A dog placed in the wrong group is the root cause of almost every bad daycare story you have heard.
Vaccination is C5 or equivalent, plus current flea and tick prevention. Puppies are welcome once they are fully vaccinated and cleared for social play. Entire males are assessed case by case. Females in heat stay home, no exceptions, and we would rather have that conversation than have the day go wrong.
Anxious dogs, senior dogs and dogs who have had a bad experience somewhere else are not a problem here. We introduce slowly, we use positive, consent-based handling, and we give older dogs gentler groups and longer rest. If your dog needs a shorter day to start with, say so at booking and we will build it that way.
If you want to see the space before you commit, book a walkthrough outside peak play times and we will show you around properly. If your dog is on medication, bring it labelled with instructions and we will handle it.
Daycare packages
| Package | Full day | Half day |
|---|---|---|
| 5 days | $220 | $155 |
| 10 days | $450 | $310 |
| 15 days | $660 | $465 |
| 20 days | $875 | $620 |
Packages are the sensible option once daycare becomes a routine rather than an occasional thing. A ten day full day package works out at $45 a day instead of $50. Afterpay is available on packages at checkout, same as everything else.
Around Burleigh Heads
Burleigh Hill, Tallebudgera Creek and James Street are all a few minutes south of us, and Tallebudgera Beach is one of only three beaches on the Gold Coast where dogs can be exercised off leash.
Worth knowing if you use the beaches: dogs are allowed on leash on most Gold Coast beaches except in designated dog prohibited areas, and not within 200 metres of the flagged areas. The City of Gold Coast designates only three beach locations for off-leash exercise: Tallebudgera Beach, Palm Beach and The Spit. Council rules do change, so check the City of Gold Coast dog exercise areas page before you go. We last checked it on 11 August 2026.

Questions from Burleigh Heads dog owners
How long does the drive take from Burleigh Heads?
About five to ten minutes north to Mountain View Avenue, Miami, north along the Gold Coast Highway, or via Christine Avenue and Bermuda Street. Allow a little longer in school-run traffic. There is a loading zone out the front and free street parking, so drop-off is quick.
Can I combine daycare with a groom after a beach week?
Yes, and Burleigh dogs are the ones it suits most. Salt and sand sit in a coat and dry the skin out, so a wash and blow dry at the end of a daycare day is a sensible habit rather than a luxury. Book both and leave a note so we can line the timings up.
Do you need a trial day?
Yes, and it is required before your dog joins a regular group. The trial day is how we work out who they get on with, how they cope with arrival and rest, and which group is actually right for them. It is the single thing that stops daycare going badly.
What vaccinations do you require?
C5 or equivalent, plus current flea and tick prevention. Puppies are welcome once they are fully vaccinated and cleared for social play. Bring your vaccination record to the trial day.
How are the play groups put together?
By size, age and play style, not just by who happens to be in that day. A bouncy young Labrador and a twelve year old terrier do not belong in the same session. Groups are kept small and dogs are rotated through the day rather than left to run flat out.
Do the dogs actually rest during the day?
Yes, and it is built into every day rather than offered if there is time. Dogs go down on proper bedding in a calm space in the middle of the day. It is the main reason our dogs settle in the evening instead of pacing the house.
Can you take an anxious, senior or first-time dog?
Yes. We introduce slowly, use positive and consent-based handling, and give older or nervous dogs gentler groups and longer rest. If your dog needs a shorter day to begin with, tell us at booking and we will build the day around it.
What does daycare cost?
Half day is $35 and is capped at five hours. Full day is $50 for daycare on its own. If you add a wash or groom at pick-up the day is priced by your dog's size, starting at $90. Packages start at $155 for five half days and $220 for five full days.
Do you do daycare packages?
Yes. Five, ten, fifteen and twenty day packages are available for both full and half days. A ten day full day package is $450, which works out at $45 a day instead of $50. Afterpay is available on packages at checkout.
