Dog grooming in Clear Island Waters

Clear Island Waters is lake country. Clear Island Lake runs behind plenty of local back fences and the suburb has 4 designated off-leash parks, so dogs here tend to come home damp, weedy or quietly pleased with themselves. Pets Juicy is our grooming, washing and daycare studio in Miami, roughly 10 minutes away down Bermuda Street and across Christine Avenue, and we know exactly what a lakeside afternoon does to a coat.

Built for Clear Island Waters dogs

Clear Island Waters is lakeside living, with quiet streets, larger family homes and dogs that grow up around the water and have the coats to prove it.

Doodles and Goldies from lakeside homes mat fast, because water plus undercoat is a recipe for tangles. A groom every 6 to 8 weeks keeps it manageable, with a wash in between if your dog keeps finding the lake edge.

Lakes, parks and off-leash spots around Clear Island Waters

Clear Island Waters has more off-leash ground than most suburbs its size. The City of Gold Coast lists 4 designated off-leash parks here: Markeri Park next to 1 Clipper Boulevarde, Takasu Gardens on the corner of Robina Parkway and Markeri Street, Robina Capes Park at Bermuda Street and Port Jackson Boulevarde, and Robina Parkway Park at Boowaggan Road, which has a fenced dog obedience section. Little Robina Capes Park on Markeri Street has a walking track, but dogs stay on the lead there, and playgrounds are off limits everywhere.

Then there's the water. Clear Island Lake is part of the Robina Lakes system, and council is plain that the lakes aren't a designated swimming area, with algae and dangerous aquatic life on its list of reasons. Its blue-green algae advice is to keep pets out of affected water altogether. The City of Gold Coast Robina Lakes page is worth a read before your dog makes its own decisions.

Lake edges are where coats come undone. A dog that pushes through reeds and floating weed brings plant matter home in its feathering, plus a smell the garden hose won't shift. A warm wash and a proper blow dry gets it out before it sets into matting. Pick up after them on the walk too, because council names dog droppings as one of the things feeding the weed.

Questions from Clear Island Waters dog owners

Roughly 10 minutes down Bermuda Street and across Christine Avenue to 1/22 Mountain View Avenue, Miami, or closer to 15 from the northern end of the suburb. There's free street parking on Mountain View Avenue. Spots aren't guaranteed, so please park legally and check the signs.

Can my dog swim in Clear Island Lake?

We wouldn't encourage it. Clear Island Lake is part of the Robina Lakes system, and the City of Gold Coast says the lakes aren't a designated swimming area, listing algae, microorganisms and dangerous aquatic life among the risks. Its blue-green algae advice is to keep pets out of affected water. If your dog gets in anyway, book a wash so the lake leaves the coat before it leaves a smell.

Which off-leash park in Clear Island Waters has a fenced area?

Robina Parkway Park, at Robina Parkway and Boowaggan Road. Council lists it as a designated off-leash area with a fenced dog obedience section, which suits recall practice and young dogs still learning their manners. Markeri Park, Takasu Gardens and Robina Capes Park are also designated off-leash areas, but council doesn't list fencing at any of them, so keep the lead handy near the roads.
