How far from Nobby Beach
Two to three minutes south along the Gold Coast Highway. From the Lavelle Street strip you are at our door before the coffee you just bought has cooled down. Loading zone out the front and free street parking, so drop-off is genuinely quick.

Built for Nobby Beach dogs
Nobby has kept the village thing better than most of the Coast. A short strip, a handful of places that know your order, and a beach that never quite gets as busy as the ones either side of it. Dogs are woven right through it. Half the tables on Lavelle have a lead tied to a chair leg.
The upside of a beach suburb is obvious. The downside, coat-wise, is that Nobby dogs are almost always slightly salty. Sand works its way into the pads and behind the ears, and salt that dries in a coat pulls moisture out of the skin and makes the guard hairs brittle. On a double-coated dog that is exactly how matting starts, quietly, in the places you do not check.
Because we are so close, a lot of Nobby dogs run on a rhythm with us rather than booking in a panic: a full groom every six to eight weeks, with a wash and blow dry dropped in between when the beach has clearly won. If you tell us how often your dog swims, we will tell you honestly whether you need that middle appointment.
What happens when you book

You book online, not over the phone. Pick the service, size and time. Afterpay is available at checkout. Online-only booking is deliberate: it means nobody is juggling a phone while holding a nervous whippet.

You tell us about your dog. Anxious, arthritic, hates the dryer, went badly somewhere else last time. All useful. None of it is a problem, and knowing in advance changes how we run the appointment.

Same groomer, every time. Shane heads up the team with Risa, Callie and Anna. We keep dogs with the same stylist wherever the diary allows, because a dog that recognises the person holding the clippers is a dog that stands still.

We work at the dog's pace. No stacked appointments, no rushing a senior dog through a dryer because the next one is waiting. If a dog needs a break, it gets one.

You get an honest update. If we found a hot spot, a grass seed, an ear that needs a vet or matting that meant we had to go shorter than you wanted, we tell you at pick-up and we tell you why.
The breeds we see most from Nobby Beach
Around Nobby we see a lot of Cavoodles, Frenchies, Staffies, Border Collies and Labradors, plus the small-breed contingent that comes with the apartments closer to the highway.
Coat type drives the price and the appointment length far more than the breed name does. Our breed-specific notes cover most of what walks through the door: Cavoodle grooming, Staffy grooming, Border Collie grooming, Moodle grooming and the full breed library.
We do not offer hand stripping. If your wire-coated dog needs it, we would rather say so now than take the booking and do the wrong thing to the coat.
The beach rules most Nobby locals get wrong
Nobby Beach is right there, which makes the council rules worth knowing properly rather than guessing.
Dogs are allowed on leash on most Gold Coast beaches, except in designated dog prohibited areas, and they are not permitted within 200 metres of the flagged areas. The City has designated only three beach locations where dogs can be exercised off leash: Tallebudgera Beach, Palm Beach and The Spit. That last point surprises a lot of people. Council rules do change, so it is worth checking the City of Gold Coast dog exercise areas page before you go. We last checked it on 11 August 2026.
So Nobby itself is an on-leash beach. The nearest designated off-leash sand is Tallebudgera, south past Burleigh. For off-leash closer to home, Pizzey Park on the Miami and Mermaid Waters border has a fenced area and sits about four minutes from Nobby.
A tip worth having: if your dog has been in the surf, a fresh water rinse before the coat dries makes a real difference to how the next few weeks go. It will not replace a proper wash and blow dry, but it slows the salt damage down considerably.

My dog swims at Nobby most days. How often do they need washing?
For a regular swimmer, a wash and blow dry every two to three weeks between full grooms keeps salt out of the coat and skin. Salt left to dry pulls moisture from the skin and makes the hair brittle, and in double-coated dogs it is one of the main causes of matting behind the ears and under the legs. Rinsing at home helps and is worth doing, but it does not reach the undercoat.

Can you handle nervous or senior dogs?
Yes, and it is a big part of what we do. Tell us in the booking notes. We work at the dog's pace, keep the same groomer across visits where we can, and skip the high-velocity dryer for dogs that find it frightening. For very anxious dogs we will often split the job across two shorter visits rather than push through one long one.
Can I get a quick tidy up rather than a full groom?
Yes. A wash and blow dry starts at $60 and suits dogs who are between full grooms or just need the beach taken out of them. If you are not sure which service you need, put it in the booking notes and we will sort it out on the day rather than charging you for the bigger option by default.
Do you offer hand stripping?
No. We do not offer hand stripping. If your dog has a wire coat that genuinely needs it, we will say so rather than clip a coat that should not be clipped.
