Dog grooming in Palm Beach

Palm Beach has one of only three designated off-leash dog beaches on the entire Gold Coast, which is brilliant for your dog and a lot of work for their coat. Pets Juicy is about ten minutes north in Miami, doing calm grooming and warm washing Monday to Saturday, with structured daycare Tuesday to Saturday.

How far from Palm Beach

Nine to ten minutes north along the Gold Coast Highway, over Tallebudgera Creek and past Burleigh, to Mountain View Avenue, Miami. Loading zone out the front and free street parking either side.

Built for Palm Beach dogs

Palm Beach has changed a lot and the dog culture has changed with it. Nineteenth Avenue has turned into a proper strip, the parklands along the creek get busy from six in the morning, and the beach itself is one of the few places on the Coast where your dog can legally run off-leash on sand.

That last point is the whole story for grooming here. An off-leash beach dog is a genuinely sandy dog, not a slightly sandy one. Sand packs into the pads, behind the ears and into the armpits, and salt dries into the coat and pulls moisture out of the skin. On a double coat it compacts into matting in exactly the spots you do not think to check.

So Palm Beach dogs tend to run on a tighter cycle with us than inland dogs do: a full groom every six to eight weeks with a wash and blow dry in between. If your dog is on the sand most days, that middle appointment is doing real work rather than being an upsell. If they are not, we will tell you to skip it.

What happens when you book

  1. You book online, not over the phone. Pick the service, size and time. Afterpay is available at checkout. Online-only booking is deliberate: it means nobody is juggling a phone while holding a nervous whippet.
  2. You tell us about your dog. Anxious, arthritic, hates the dryer, went badly somewhere else last time. All useful. None of it is a problem, and knowing in advance changes how we run the appointment.
  3. Same groomer, every time. Shane heads up the team with Risa, Callie and Anna. We keep dogs with the same stylist wherever the diary allows, because a dog that recognises the person holding the clippers is a dog that stands still.
  4. We work at the dog's pace. No stacked appointments, no rushing a senior dog through a dryer because the next one is waiting. If a dog needs a break, it gets one.
  5. You get an honest update. If we found a hot spot, a grass seed, an ear that needs a vet or matting that meant we had to go shorter than you wanted, we tell you at pick-up and we tell you why.

The breeds we see most from Palm Beach

Around Palm Beach and Elanora we see plenty of Labradors, Staffies, Cavoodles, Border Collies and Kelpies, plus a good number of Golden Retrievers and the odd Rottweiler.

The double-coated dogs are the ones the beach is hardest on, and they are also the ones most often clipped when they should not be. Our breed notes cover the detail: Kelpie grooming, Border Collie grooming, Golden Retriever grooming, Staffy grooming and the full breed library.

We do not offer hand stripping. If your wire-coated dog genuinely needs it, we will tell you rather than take the booking.

The off-leash beach, and what it does to a coat

This is the bit worth getting right, because Palm Beach is one of the few places the rules actually work in your favour.

Dogs are allowed on leash on most Gold Coast beaches, except in designated dog prohibited areas, and they are not permitted within 200 metres of the flagged areas. The City has designated only three beach locations where dogs can be exercised off leash: Tallebudgera Beach, Palm Beach and The Spit. That last point surprises a lot of people. Council rules do change, so it is worth checking the City of Gold Coast dog exercise areas page before you go. We last checked it on 11 August 2026.

Palm Beach is one of the three designated off-leash beach areas, alongside Tallebudgera just to the north and The Spit up the far end of the Coast. Tallebudgera Creek is the other obvious one for Palm Beach locals, and the parklands along the creek mouth are as good a dog walk as anywhere on the Gold Coast.

Practical advice from people who wash the results: rinse with fresh water before the coat dries if you possibly can. It will not get sand out of the undercoat and it will not replace a proper wash and blow dry, but it slows down the salt damage to the skin considerably, and it makes the next groom shorter and cheaper.

Making a day of it? Our verified guides cover dog friendly beaches, dog friendly parks and dog friendly picnic and barbecue spots.

Questions from Palm Beach dog owners

How long does it take to get there from Palm Beach?

Nine to ten minutes north along the Gold Coast Highway, over Tallebudgera Creek and past Burleigh, to Mountain View Avenue, Miami. There is a loading zone out the front and free street parking either side.

My dog is on the off-leash beach most days. What is the right schedule?

For a daily off-leash beach dog, a full groom every six to eight weeks with a wash and blow dry dropped in between is the schedule that actually works. Sand packs into pads, ears and armpits, and salt dries into the coat and pulls moisture out of the skin. On a double coat that is how matting starts. If your dog only goes down once a week, skip the middle appointment. We will tell you which one you are.

Should I rinse my dog at home after the beach?

Yes, if you can do it before the coat dries. Fresh water will not reach the undercoat and it will not replace a wash and blow dry, but it slows the salt damage to the skin considerably and it makes the next groom faster and cheaper. It is the single highest-value five minutes you can spend on a beach dog.

What does a groom actually cost?

Full grooms start at $100 and washes start at $60. The final price depends on your dog's size, coat type and the condition it arrives in, which is why the booking page asks for size. A matted coat takes longer and costs more, and we would rather be upfront about that than surprise you at pick-up.

When are you open and how do I book?

Monday to Saturday, 8am to 4pm, at 1/22 Mountain View Avenue, Miami. Booking is online only, which keeps the phone quiet and the studio calm. Pick your service and size on the booking page and choose a time that suits.

Do you take Afterpay?

Yes. Afterpay is available at online checkout on grooming, washing and daycare, including daycare packages.

Can you handle nervous or senior dogs?

Yes, and it is a big part of what we do. Tell us in the booking notes. We work at the dog's pace, keep the same groomer across visits where we can, and skip the high-velocity dryer for dogs that find it frightening. For very anxious dogs we will often split the job across two shorter visits rather than push through one long one.

Do you do daycare for Palm Beach dogs too?

Yes. Half day is $35, capped at five hours, and a full day is $50, with small group sizes and structured rest periods. Given the drive, a lot of Palm Beach clients book a full day of daycare with a groom so one trip covers everything.

Do you offer hand stripping?

No. We do not offer hand stripping. If your dog has a wire coat that genuinely needs it, we will say so rather than clip a coat that should not be clipped.
