Northern Gold Coast With Your Dog: Every Suburb Guide in One Place
Your dog's map of the northern Gold Coast
From The Spit to Jacobs Well and up the hill to Tamborine, the northern Gold Coast is one of the best places in Queensland to own a dog, if you know where the rules change. Over October 2026 we checked the off-leash areas, dog-friendly venues, vets and pet-friendly stays across 17 suburb and area guides, and we say so plainly wherever we couldn't confirm something. This page pulls them together so you can find the right guide in one click, plus quick answers to the questions we get asked most.
Last checked 28/10/2026. Every park rule here comes from the council or park authority's own pages, every venue from its own website or socials plus its Google listing, and each fact was checked a second time before we published.

Five rules that catch people out on the north end
- Off-leash means signed off-leash. Council's rule is lead on everywhere unless a sign says otherwise, and dogs need a lead going in and out.
- Playgrounds are always off limits. That applies even inside parks with an off-leash area.
- Some "dog parks" aren't. Pimpama Sports Hub is on-lead only, and the Pimpama River Conservation Area and Coombabah Lakelands ban dogs completely.
- National and conservation parks ban dogs. That includes every walk in Tamborine National Park and South Stradbroke Island's conservation park.
- Time windows matter. Biggera Waters is off-leash only early and late, and swimming isn't allowed in Regatta Lake at all because of water quality.

FAQs
Where can my dog go off-leash on the northern Gold Coast?
Council has dozens of off-leash areas on the north end. The standouts are the Labrador foreshore (any time), Bayview Park in Hollywell (fenced), Saltwater Park in Hope Island (fenced, with a dog swimming area) and Galapagos Park in Pacific Pines (the whole park).
Is there a dog beach on the northern Gold Coast?
Yes. The Broadwater foreshores at Labrador, Biggera Waters (early and late), the northern end of Paradise Point Parklands and Marine Stadium at The Spit are council off-leash areas. Council's own pages disagree on whether The Spit is open, so check the signs there.
Are there dog-friendly places to stay on the northern Gold Coast?
Yes. BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park in Helensvale, Jacobs Well Tourist Park, Treasure Island at Biggera Waters, QT, Novotel and The Langham in Surfers Paradise, and Tamborine Mountain Glades all publish dog policies.
